General Terms and Conditions
This English version is a translation of the legally authoritative German Terms and Conditions (AGB) at bonsplit.de/legal/agb. BonSplit is operated from Germany and is offered to consumers in the European Union and the European Economic Area. In case of any interpretation conflict, the German version prevails.
§ 1 Scope and contracting parties
(1) These General Terms and Conditions (T&Cs) apply to all contracts between
Decode GmbHrepresented by managing director Martin Prell
Bachstr. 20

Court of registration: Amtsgericht München, HRB 241015
Email: hello@bonsplit.de
(hereinafter "Provider" or "BonSplit") and its users (hereinafter "User") regarding the use of the SaaS service BonSplit, available at bonsplit.de, bonsplit.de and app.bonsplit.de.
(2) BonSplit is offered to consumers and businesses within the meaning of § 13 and § 14 of the German Civil Code (BGB). The focus is on private use.
(3) Conflicting terms and conditions of the User are not recognised unless the Provider expressly agrees to their applicability in writing.
§ 2 Subject of the contract
(1) BonSplit is a web-based service (SaaS) for digitising, categorising and jointly managing receipts, expenses and related household data (e.g. shopping lists, recurring payments, pantry inventory) within a household or small group.
(2) The scope of functions is set out in the current description on bonsplit.de. Individual functions may be in "Beta" or "Coming Soon" status; their availability is not guaranteed. The Provider reserves the right to adapt the scope of functions as part of further development, insofar as this is reasonable for the User.
(3) BonSplit is not an accounting or tax software. The application is not intended for proper bookkeeping under the German GoBD rules, tax advisory services or commercial receipt archiving.
§ 3 Conclusion of contract
(1) The (free) contract for the use of BonSplit is concluded through registration of the User (creation of an account) and confirmation of the email address — either by clicking the activation link sent by email (“magic link”) or by registering with a Google account.
(2) By registering, the User accepts these T&Cs and the Privacy Policy.
(3) Registration and use of the basic feature set are free of charge. Upon creation of the account, the User receives a one-time starting balance of 5 receipt scans (“credits”). There is no paid subscription and no payment obligation.
(4) A separate, paid purchase contract for additional credits (receipt packages) is only concluded once the User selects a package in the checkout process and bindingly confirms the purchase via the payment service provider (see § 4).
§ 4 Prices and payment terms (prepaid credits)
(1) Registration and use of the basic feature set are free of charge. BonSplit is financed through the sale of receipt-scan credits on a prepaid basis. There is no subscription and no automatic renewal.
(2) One credit corresponds to one AI-powered receipt scan (automatic recognition of a receipt from a photo or PDF). Receipts entered manually by hand do not consume any credits and are free without limit. Upon account creation, the User receives 5 credits free of charge.
(3) Additional credits can be purchased as one-time receipt packages. The current packages and prices are set out on the purchase page in the app. All prices are end prices including statutory German VAT (currently 19%). As of 13 June 2026:
- 50 receipts — €3.99
- 100 receipts — €6.99
- 150 receipts — €9.99
- 200 receipts — €12.99
- 400 receipts — €22.99
- 600 receipts — €32.99
- 1000 receipts — €49.99
(4) Purchased credits do not expire and can be used without time limit for as long as the account exists. One credit is deducted from the balance for each AI scan; manual entries remain free.
(5) Payment is made as a one-time payment via the payment service provider PayPal. No recurring debit takes place. The purchased credits are credited immediately after successful payment.
(6) For each purchase, the Provider automatically creates a consecutively numbered invoice and makes it available to the User by email and as a PDF via the account area.
§ 5 Contract term, credits and termination
(1) The free usage contract runs for an indefinite period. As there is no payment obligation, there is no minimum term, no automatic renewal and no notice period.
(2) The User can end usage at any time by deleting their account in the settings or by sending a notice to hello@bonsplit.de.
(3) Purchased, unused credits do not expire while the account exists. Credits already consumed (scans performed) are not refunded. The statutory right of withdrawal under § 6 remains unaffected.
(4) Upon deletion of the account, it is first deactivated; after the period stated in the Privacy Policy, the data is permanently deleted. With the final deletion of the account, any remaining credit balance expires; there is no claim to a payout of unused credits, to the extent legally permissible and subject to mandatory consumer rights (in particular the right of withdrawal under § 6).
(5) Extraordinary termination for cause remains reserved for both parties at any time.
§ 6 Right of withdrawal for consumers
The following right of withdrawal concerns paid contracts, i.e. the purchase of receipt-scan credits (receipt packages). The free registration and use of the basic feature set involves no payment and is therefore not relevant to withdrawal; it can be ended informally at any time by deleting the account (§ 5).
Withdrawal instructions
Right of withdrawal
You have the right to withdraw from this contract within 14 days without giving any reason.
The withdrawal period is 14 days from the day of conclusion of the contract.
To exercise the right of withdrawal, you must inform us (Decode GmbH, Bachstr. 20, 85414 Kirchdorf, phone: +49 160 7252676, email: hello@bonsplit.de) by means of a clear statement (e.g. a letter sent by post or email) of your decision to withdraw from this contract.
To meet the withdrawal deadline, it is sufficient for you to send your communication concerning your exercise of the right of withdrawal before the withdrawal period has expired.
Consequences of withdrawal
If you withdraw from this contract, we shall reimburse to you all payments received from you without undue delay and not later than 14 days from the day on which we are informed about your decision to withdraw from this contract.
For the reimbursement, we will use the same means of payment as you used for the original transaction, unless you have expressly agreed otherwise.
Early expiry of the right of withdrawal
The purchase of receipt-scan credits constitutes the supply of digital content not supplied on a tangible medium. In this respect, the right of withdrawal expires if we have begun performing the contract after you (1) expressly consented to us beginning performance before the withdrawal period has expired, and (2) confirmed your knowledge that you thereby lose your right of withdrawal upon the start of performance. We obtain this express consent during the checkout process before the purchase of a receipt package; the purchased credits are provided immediately thereafter.
§ 7 User obligations
(1) The User undertakes:
- to keep their access data confidential and protect it against unauthorised access
- to inform the Provider immediately in the event of loss or suspected misuse of access data
- to upload only their own receipts or receipts of third parties with their express consent
- not to store any unlawful, offensive or otherwise inappropriate content in BonSplit
- not to use any mechanisms, software or other scripts that disrupt the function of BonSplit
(2) In the event of breach of these obligations, the Provider is entitled to suspend the account and terminate the contract extraordinarily.
§ 8 Availability and maintenance
(1) The Provider endeavours to ensure an availability of 99% as an annual average. Excluded from this are:
- announced maintenance windows
- outages due to force majeure or problems with third-party providers (Strato, Anthropic, PayPal)
- outages due to DDoS attacks or other security incidents
(2) For larger planned maintenance work, the Provider will inform Users at least 48 hours in advance by email.
§ 9 Liability
(1) The Provider is liable without limitation for intent and gross negligence.
(2) In the case of slight negligence, the Provider is only liable for damage to life, body, health or for breach of essential contractual obligations (cardinal obligations). In this case, liability is limited to the foreseeable damage typical of the contract.
(3) Liability for the accuracy of AI-based receipt recognition is excluded to the extent legally permitted. The User is obliged to check recognised data.
(4) Liability for indirect damage, consequential damage, lost profits or similar financial damage is excluded to the extent legally permitted.
(5) BonSplit is not suitable for proper bookkeeping or tax advisory services. We accept no liability for this.
§ 10 Data protection
The Provider processes personal data of the User in accordance with the applicable Privacy Policy.
§ 11 Changes to the T&Cs
(1) The Provider reserves the right to adapt these T&Cs insofar as this is necessary for objective reasons and the User is not unreasonably disadvantaged as a result.
(2) Changes will be communicated to the User at least 4 weeks before they take effect by email. If the User does not object to the changes within 4 weeks, they shall be deemed to have been accepted. The right of objection and the consequences of silence will be pointed out separately in the email.
(3) In the event of objection, the Provider is entitled to terminate the contractual relationship at the time the changes take effect.
§ 12 Final provisions
(1) German law applies under exclusion of the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods.
(2) Where the User is a consumer and has their habitual residence in another EU Member State, mandatory consumer protection provisions applicable there remain unaffected.
(3) Place of performance and exclusive place of jurisdiction for all disputes arising from this contract is Munich, where the User is a merchant, legal entity under public law or special fund under public law.
(4) Should individual provisions of these T&Cs be or become invalid, the validity of the remaining provisions shall remain unaffected.
